Everything you need to know about CodeAds
Install the CodeAds extension for VS Code, Claude Code, or the CLI. Once installed, ads will appear in your code completions. You earn 50% of every ad bid — deposited to your Stripe Connect account monthly.
Earnings depend on how much you code and advertiser demand. Active developers typically earn $50–$200/month. Advertisers bid per 1,000 blocks served, so more coding = more earnings. Use our earnings estimator on the homepage to get a personalized estimate.
Payouts are processed monthly via Stripe Connect. Once your balance reaches the minimum threshold, funds are automatically transferred to your linked bank account. You can track all payouts from your dashboard Settings page.
CodeAds currently supports VS Code, Claude Code, and Codex CLI. We are actively working on support for JetBrains IDEs and more. Check the Extension Status page in your dashboard to see connected devices.
Advertisers bid for ad slots in the code completion stream. Higher bids get priority placement. The auction runs continuously — campaigns with the highest CPM bids are served first. You earn based on the winning bid at the time each ad is shown.
Yes! In your Settings page, you can customize ad preferences including categories you are interested in, frequency caps, and brand visibility. You can also toggle brand icons and adjust animation speed for the ad display.
Absolutely. CodeAds does not read your code, file contents, or any sensitive data. We use only IDE metadata (type, version) to serve contextually relevant ads. Your code never leaves your machine. Review our Privacy Policy for full details.
Your account and earnings remain intact. You can reinstall anytime and continue where you left off. Any pending payouts will still be processed on the regular monthly schedule. Your data is never deleted without your explicit request.
